Nicholas Martorano is a principal of his own consulting firm since 1990, specializing in helping companies to manage, finance, market and grow their operations.  He also acts as an advisory financial officer for companies whose needs do not require full time personnel. 

Mr. Martorano has a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Bentley College and an MBA from Suffolk University.  His 25 years experience in the construction industry has been as Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer for several prominent general contractors and subcontractors in the Boston Area.

Responsibilities included general accounting for corporation and limited partnerships, project management and job costing for $15 million construction and property management of all real estate holdings.

Duties for road construction general contractor included: review of financial and administrative functions and implementing systems, increasing automation, controls and improvements for general accounting, budgets, forecasts and management reports. Liaison with bank and surety. Supervised staff of eight.

Responsibilities for multi-company painting and drywall contractor and distributor included: accounting department, monthly financial statements for six corporations, financial planning, credit and collections for 500 accounts, payroll for 250 employees, liaison with financial institutions and surety, in-house data processing and supervision of staff of six.

Duties for developer and general contractor included: monthly financial statements for parent company and two divisions, supervision of accounting function and staff of four, in-house data processing, collections, payroll for 125 employees and administration.

1968-1976

General Manager, R.A. Caputo Co., Inc.
Belmont, MA

Responsibilities for general contractor specializing in renovations included: subcontract negotiations, liaison with contracting agencies, architects and engineers, weekly payroll of 30 employees, collections and supervision of three. Originally hired as accountant performing general accounting duties and preparation of cost estimates for contract bids. Returned after two years of active duty.
